Breast Cancer Awareness Month, observed every October, is a global movement dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer, promoting early detection, and supporting patients and survivors. The campaign began in 1985 with the American Cancer Society, and since then, October has been recognized worldwide as Pink October, symbolized by the pink ribbon. Over the years, increased awareness and screenings during this month have contributed to a significant reduction in breast cancer deaths.
Why chosen October Month?
October was chosen as the month for Breast Cancer Awareness to honor the efforts of early advocates and align with international research and awareness events. The pink ribbon introduced in 1992 became a universal symbol of hope, unity, and action in the fight against breast cancer.
